Big Hill Path in Autumn at Dusk – October 6, 2011

I went to Big Hill Park here in Beloit, Wisconsin, tonight to see how the fall color change is progressing. We're not at peak yet, but there are patches of nice color to be found. There are also trees full of dried brown leaves and even bare trees to be found, so I'm hoping the color change picks up its pace! 🙂

You might recognize this path with its stone wall from other images, such as this image of Big Hill in autumn or these of Big Hill in spring; it's one of my favorite spots to shoot around town.

As always, I'd love to hear your responses – please do leave comments below!

  1. Hey this photo is perfect for a you tube video I’d like to make do you charge a reasonable royalty or is it open to use?

  2. Hello! I absolutely love this photo and the location captured – it’s beautiful! I’m a senior portrait photographer, and am actually planning on going to Big Hill later today… Would you mind telling me where I can find this location? I haven’t seen it before!
It’s a long shot contacting you on such short notice, but if you’re able to get back to me I’d really appreciate it! Thank you!

  3. Hi, Haley –

I just sent this via email, but I’ll post here just in case…

This is the large path that leads from top to bottom of the park next to the river. You can either walk to it from behind the water station at the top of the hill or drive down the hill and all the way around to the parking loop next to the river. There are 2 trails from there – one right next to the river, and this trail just off to the right leading uphill.

    Good luck & have fun!
