Gear for Sale – Price Reduced!
Just a quick note on the gear I have for sale here: I replaced a couple of empty ink cartridges in the Canon ipf 5100 printer, so I’ve adjusted both the description and the price for that item – it’s actually still the same amount of ink, but now more of it’s in the printer…
“From the Edge with Peter Lik” Premieres on The Weather Channel
If you didn’t catch the premiere of “From the Edge with Peter Lik” on The Weather Channel tonight, try to catch a repeat or watch it on your TV provider’s “on demand” equivalent – much fun, beautiful scenery, and some great photography. I love the “Tree of the Universe” image shown on the episode! And…
Bradley Nordlof Landscape Photography Presentation at Camera Craft
I attended Brad Nordlof’s Landscape Photography presentation last night at Camera Craft in Rockford. Brad showed slides (on the large-screen TV) of his photos and offered tips and advice to fellow photographers. Due to some initial time lost on technical difficulties with the TV’s interface to the computer, Brad had to omit some material –…
Northwoods Nature Photography at Beloit Holidazzle 2011
In keeping with my tradition of the last few years, I’ll be at The Villager for Holidazzle, held this year on Friday, December 9 from 5:00 PM -9:00 PM. The Villager is at 429 East Grand Avenue, but Holidazzle includes over 40 locations in the Downtown Beloit, Wisconsin area with lots of art, crafts, and…
Recommended Reading – Ebooks by Joseph Rossbach, Ian Plant, and William Neill
Joseph Rossbach, Ian Plant, and William Neill have all recently released terrific ebooks featuring landscape photography. Each has a different focus, but all are lavishly and beautifully illustrated with the authors’ own photographs, and all are worthwhile additions to your electronic bookshelf. And they’re all a steal, priced at only $5-$10! Rossbach’s “Crafting Compelling Compositions”…
As Seen on The Sonic Blog (Photography is Art)
My interests in photography are generally limited to landscape and nature subjects, but when I noticed a number of visits to my website coming from Peter Feldhaus’ The Sonic Blog I visited that site and found myself enjoying a number of definitely non-landscape posts and photos. This looks like a good site for broadening my…

Very nice Jack. It reminds me of the area I lived in back in Minnesota before I moved west. It triggers some pleasant memories.
Thanks, pj. I really miss this sort of scene when I’m away from the northwoods…
I love this type of stuff Jack. Great examples of the textures and warm brown tones that exist after the “in your face” color has passed.
btw, I can’t really see the text in your reply to PJ above, seems to be white text on a light blue background. Probably a CSS tweak in your new theme?
Thanks, Mark, and thanks for pointing out the css issue… hopefully it’s a bit easier to read now! 🙂

Nice blog and wonderful photography. Thanks for sharing.
Dear Jack, I am just Loving what I have seen so far, your images are amazing on how I experience a closer connection to nature. They remind me of our Central Ontario area of The Muskokas and Algonquin Park, my ancestral home and family lineage. As fourth generation Algonquin I am always drawn to images of the wilderness and the spiritual draw on my soul. I hope you take a peak at my collection of some of my most precious gems in nature that I enjoy so much. They are all my favorite ” Sit Spots”
Thanks, Steven, and thanks for visiting – come back anytime! 🙂
