Big Thumbs Up for Canon Service!
Got my baby back today, good as new if not better! For those of you just joining us, I recently sent my Canon 5D Mark II back to Canon for service – I was seeing an extraordinarily high (and growing) number of hot pixels on every shot, to the point where it has been taking me the better part of an hour to clone out hundreds of bright red & green dots from every photo. I was a little hesitant to send it in, as I'd seen mentions on the interwebs that sensor replacement cost $1000 – $1500, but after a conversation with David at Camera Craft in Rockford, I decided to at least get a quote. Long story short, they replaced the sensor and tuned up the camera for a grand total of $241.60! I got the camera back 1 week after they received it, and it only took that long because they had to wait a couple of days for the new sensor to arrive.
And speaking of the new sensor… Ah, so clean, so sweet! No more starfield of hot pixels on every shot – just that 5D Mark II goodness I've grown to love!
Can't wait to get out shooting again!
My thanks to David & Canon!
