Big Hill in Autumn 2012

I got in a little shooting this afternoon, (mostly) between rain showers – luckily the 5D Mark II doesn't seem to mind a few sprinkles! Color is past peak here in Beloit, WI, but still quite pretty in my opinion. Shooting right after and during the rain has the advantage of enhancing contrast and color saturation, which is very helpful post-peak. These are shots of Big Hill Park, taken from across the river.

The panoramic shot is comprised of 4 shots stitched & then cropped, so it could print fairly large – maybe 15″ x 45″ or 20″ x 60″. I'm experimenting with different sharpening techniques, though, and I'm not sure whether these images are too “grainy” – what do you think? Let me know in the comments below!

  1. These are quite awesome Jack. Can’t tell any grain here, and not even sure it would affect images like this. Fall color in the rain is the best.
