Lake Superior Sunset 5325

I shot this in May 2008, but didn't process it until now – I'm not sure why, as now I rather like it. Maybe I'm just in the mood for a warm sunset on the shore of Lake Superior, listening to the rhythmic slap of the waves rolling in… Just in case others are in the same mood, I'm making this the background for my March calendar, too.

This is the view from the beach by Superior Falls, in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. It's another one of those spots I visit frequently on my trips to the northwoods, and I have a few other images from this location in the galleries.

As always, please feel free to post a comment below to let me know what you think!

  1. Love the view from this spot, but hate the walk out. I missed a great sunset here once by packing up too early…I haven’t made that mistake again. :~)

  2. Hey, Mark! I like the transition, too – I think that’s part of its soothing nature for me… I’m really feeling the urge for a trip north, but I don’t think it’s in the cards for the near future…

  3. Hi John, the view is beautiful, awesome and stunning. But you know about it, otherwise you wouldn’t have taken that photo:) For me, the most precious is a deep-love-for-nature feeling you convey by your art. Your shots are not just a press-button production but they show your approach to nature and that is why I love looking at your works. I also love the impression of vast spaces in your photos, as it makes me feel unity with nature.
